Aquaculture Associations - Ireland (Eire)

Irish Farmers Association - Aquaculture section
Dublin, Ireland
the vital role played by sustainable farming of fish and shellfish is a cornerstone of Ireland’s strategy to create jobs and exports from coastal areas. Irish Salmon Growers Association

BIM - Bord Iascaigh Mhara helps to develop the Irish Seafood Industry by providing technical expertise, business support, funding, training and promoting responsible environmental practice. Our Seafood Development Centre (SDC) fosters innovation and assists seafood businesses to develop new products and processes.

Fish farming - Aquaculture activity includes growing finfish, such as salmon and trout and shellfish farming, including the cultivation of mussels, oysters and scallops

BIM conducts an annual survey in which all aquaculture companies are requested to submit economic and operational details for the year. The data is grouped by species and submitted to the EU in aggregated format so your company or you as an individual cannot be identified. The information collected helps to inform European aquaculture policy.

International Salmon Farmers Association - Aquaculture, or fish farming is centuries old. Salmon farming began in Norway approximately 40 years ago but it has become an economic driver and social mainstay of coastal and rural communities all over the world – in countries like Canada, the United States, Chile, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Iceland, Ireland and the Faroe Islands. Salmon farming currently employs thousands of people, generates billions of dollars into local economies and provides leadership and training opportunities for young people so that they can work and raise families in their home communities. Farmed salmon has also become a staple part of a healthy, nutritious and affordable diet for people of all ages.

Aquaculture Stewardship Council
The ASC's mission is to transform aquaculture towards environmental sustainability and social responsibility using efficient market mechanisms that create value across the chain.
