Forum Fisheries Agency
- The Pacific Islands Forum Fisheries Agency (FFA) is based in
Honiara, Solomon Islands and comprises 17 member governments. It was
established in August 1979 to help countries manage their fishery
resources that fall within their 200 mile exclusive economic zones.
The founding document of the Agency is the South Pacific Forum
Fisheries Agency Convention.
Ocean Health Index
Australia
- The Ocean Health Index is a valuable tool for the ongoing
assessment of ocean health. By providing a means to advance
comprehensive ocean policy and compare future progress, the Index
can inform decisions about how to use or protect marine ecosystems.
The Index is a collaborative effort, made possible through
contributions from more than 65 scientists/ocean experts and
partnerships between organizations including the National Center for
Ecological Analysis and Synthesis, Sea Around Us, Conservation
International, National Geographic, and the New England Aquarium.

Seafood Industry Victoria - Seafood Industry
Victoria is a non-profit organisation whose members
are involved in the harvesting, processing,
wholesaling, retailing and exporting of seafood in
Victoria. Seafood Industry Victoria is the
officially recognised peak body for the commercial
fishing industry. In our capacity as the peak body
we liaise with State government, media,
environmental groups and other marine stakeholders
on behalf of our member's best interests. The major
role of the Seafood Industry Victoria is to
disseminate the flow of information from these
groups to industry and provide appropriate
responses.
International Association of Fish Inspectors
- Fish, seafood and associated products that are
safe, of acceptable quality and readily available
for sale in the world's marketplaces. The
International Association of Fish Inspectors (IAFI)
is a new and growing organization serving the world
fish inspection community. As stated in our Charter,
IAFI exists to promote the exchange of ideas and
information, foster interaction, understanding and
professional collaboration among individuals,
organizations, and governments, disseminate
knowledge about fish, seafood, and associated
products inspection, and promote advancement of the
state-of-the-art in fish inspection research and
education.

industry body representing the wild-harvest abalone

Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia and New

International Salmon Farmers Association -
Aquaculture, or fish farming is centuries old.
Salmon farming began in Norway approximately 40
years ago but it has become an economic driver and
social mainstay of coastal and rural communities all
over the world – in countries like Canada, the
United States, Chile, the UK, Australia, New
Zealand, Iceland, Ireland and the Faroe Islands.
Salmon farming currently employs thousands of
people, generates billions of dollars into local
economies and provides leadership and training
opportunities for young people so that they can work
and raise families in their home communities. Farmed
salmon has also become a staple part of a healthy,
nutritious and affordable diet for people of all
ages.

Tasmanian Seafood Industry Council
The Tasmanian Seafood Industry Council (TSIC) is the
peak body representing the interests of wild capture
fishers, marine farmers and seafood processors in
Tasmania. Tasmania is the largest producer of
seafood by value in Australia and is a supplier of
high quality fresh and frozen seafood produce to the
8 out of 10 Australians who buy seafood and to
valuable export markets, principally in South-east
Asia.

merchants. The Master Fish Merchants’ Association of
Australia (MFMA) is a not-for-profit organisation
that represents businesses that buy and sell seafood
products. Membership is open to seafood retailers,
wholesalers, processors, co-operatives, mobile
vendors and any other organisation considered by the
Management Committee to have an interest in the
selling of seafood.
Queensland Seafood Industry Association -
QSIA is active in representing members’ interests in
a range of different areas affecting the industry
including fisheries policy and management planning,
marine park policy and planning, native title,
seafood safety and quality, research and
development, protection of the aquatic environment
and marine safety amongst others.

The Seafood Importers Association of Australasia Inc.
- The Seafood Importers Association of Australasia
Inc. (SIAA) consists of 30 member companies,
representing about 70% of all edible seafood
products imported into Australia. The combined
business turnover of our members is approaching one
billion Australian dollars annually. The Association
was formed in 1969 and is officially recognised at
all levels of government and industry, both locally
and internationally. As a responsible industry
organization, the SIAA actively contributes to
discussions on issues such as bio-security: the
appropriate levels of quarantine applied to imports
to protect Australia's environment and primary
industries; and food safety: the setting of
appropriate standards, certification and
inspection/testing of imports.
Network of Aquaculture Centres in Asia-Pacific (NACA)
- NACA is an intergovernmental organisation that
promotes rural development through sustainable
aquaculture. NACA seeks to improve rural income,
increase food production and foreign exchange
earnings and to diversify farm production. The
ultimate beneficiaries of NACA activities are
farmers and rural communities. Current member
governments are Australia, Bangladesh, Cambodia,
China, Hong Kong SAR, India, Indonesia, I.R. Iran,
Korea (DPR), Lao PDR, Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmar,
